California Consumer Privacy Act

Notice for California Consumers

Effective on July 1, 2020

This notice describes the rights of Californians under the California Consumer Privacy Act of 2018 (“CCPA”). Click here for information about the CCPA. Click here to read the CCPA law. The CCPA requires businesses like us, that receive information from California consumers, to provide certain information to them. We further describe our practices in our Privacy Policy, but use this separate notice to ensure that we meet the CCPA’s requirements. This notice contains the following four parts:

  • We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information
  • Your CCPA Rights
  • The CCPA Categories of Personal Information We Collect and the Sources
  • The CCPA Categories of Personal Information We Share for a “Business Purpose”

1. We Do Not Sell Your Personal Information

The CCPA requires us to disclose whether we sell your personal information. We do not sell, lease, or rent your personal information.

2. Why We May Collect Your Information

SecurTest, Inc. is a background screening provider. Employers and other end-users request a background investigation, consumer report, or investigative report as defined by the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or other applicable law, such as the CCPA.  We required our clients to obtain your authorization for such reports, which clearly identifies SecurTest, Inc. as the provider that investigates and collects the information that is reported.

When your personal information is collected on SecurTest's publicly accessible web site, SecurTest will inform you at the point of collection of the purpose for the collection. SecurTest will use your personal information only in the way we specify when it is collected unless you consent to a different use.

For example, SecurTest may use personal information submitted in an account application to set up and maintain your account. We also may use the personal information you provide to answer your questions and inquiries, to support our own recruitment activities in response to your inquiries into SecurTest’s job postings, and to provide newsletters and other information (if any) that you have requested.

If you have provided your personal information over this web site in connection with a background check ordered by SecurTest's client, we may use your personal information to perform your background check for that client. SecurTest will not use your information to conduct a background screening investigation and create a report unless SecurTest's client has provided a certification required by the FCRA and any other applicable law or an authorization submitted by you. In this certification, SecurTest's client certifies to us that it has a legally permissible purpose for ordering the background check, and that it has, to the extent required by applicable law, obtained your informed consent to conduct the background check.

iReviewNow, LLC is not a background screening provider or consumer reporting agency. iReviewNow, LLC is a holding company for the iReviewNow patents. SecurTest is an authorized licensee and user of these patents. SecurTest, through iReviewNow, and other means allow consumers and subjects of the background reports to view their report, dispute any inaccuracies or incomplete information, and in some instances provide contextual information you may wish to append to the report. Contextual information may include explanatory information about adverse, negative, or derogatory information that is otherwise accurate and complete.  Contextual information may also include documents or information you provide related to self-improvement or corrective steps you have taken since the occurrence of adverse, negative, or derogatory event(s).

3. Your Rights Under the CCPA

The CCPA provides Californians with the following rights:

3.1 Requests for Information

You (or your authorized agent) can request a copy of your personal information. You or your authorized agent will be required to verify your identity and your authorization where you may authorize an agent. Under the CCPA, you can also request that we disclose how we have collected, used, and shared your personal information over the past 12 months, including the categories of personal information we collected and our purposes for doing so; the categories of sources for that information; the categories of third parties with whom we shared it for a business purpose and our purposes for doing so. Companies that sell personal information (we do not) must make additional disclosures.

If you have not authorized a background check, consumer, or investigative report, you can submit your request here or can submit a request via an authorized agent.
